Blondies are called so because they are similar to brownies but without cocoa or chocolate. They have a rich, buttery flavor and a dense, chewy texture.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Add brown sugar and mix well.

Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until well combined.

Spread half of the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.

In another bowl, beat together the cream cheese, granulated sugar, and cocoa powder until smooth.

Spread the cream cheese mixture over the batter in the baking dish.

Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter on top of the cream cheese mixture. Use a knife to swirl the batter and cream cheese together.

Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top.

Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Allow the blondies to cool in the baking dish for 1 hour before cutting into squares.
