In a large bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

In a separate bowl, beat the egg. Stir in the milk, melted butter, chipotle peppers, corn kernels, and green onions.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
