Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.

Stir in the chopped nuts.

Press half of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Arrange the maraschino cherries evenly over the dough.

Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the cherries.

Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the condensed milk.

Drop spoonfuls of the remaining dough evenly over the chocolate chips.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
