Nachos were invented in 1943 by Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Anaya when he improvised a snack for military wives using what was available in the kitchen.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a baking dish, spread a layer of tortilla chips.
  3. Sprinkle half of the Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese over the chips.
  4. Add a layer of black beans, diced tomatoes, and sliced jalapenos.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  8. Serve with dollops of sour cream, guacamole, and chopped cilantro.
