  1. Grate the cheddar cheese and gruyere cheese.
  2. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with garlic.
  3. In a bowl, mix the grated cheeses with cornstarch.
  4. Heat the white wine and lemon juice in the fondue pot over medium heat.
  5. Gradually add the cheese mixture, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  6. Stir in the kirsch, nutmeg, and black pepper.
  7. Cut the French baguette into bite-sized cubes.
  8. Serve the cheese fondue with the bread cubes for dipping.
