Cheating Scalloped Potatoes
Scalloped potatoes are believed to have originated in France, but they became popular in North America during the 19th century.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds.

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potato slices. Sprinkle with half of the salt, black pepper, and grated cheddar cheese.

Repeat the layering process with the remaining potato slices, salt, black pepper, and cheddar cheese.

Pour the heavy cream evenly over the top layer.

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the potatoes are golden and bubbly.

Let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving.
