  5. Place a maraschino cherry in the center of each pineapple slice.
  6. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  7. In a separate bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and softened butter.
  8. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  9. Stir in the vanilla extract.
