  3. Place the puff pastry squares on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  5. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
  6. Stir in balsamic vinegar, thyme, salt, and black pepper.
  7. Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
