  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, to the butter mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  6. Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking pan. Pour the caramel sauce evenly over the batter. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter on top of the caramel and nuts. Use a knife to gently swirl the batter and caramel together.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.
