Caramel Cashew Squares
Cashews are not actually nuts, but seeds that grow outside the fruit, known as cashew apples.
This is vegetarian and gluten free recipe. Dish can be prepared in 75 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 7.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased baking dish to form the crust.

Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until lightly golden.

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and turns golden brown.

Remove the caramel mixture from the heat and stir in the cashews.

Pour the caramel mixture over the baked crust, spreading it evenly.

Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for 30 minutes.

Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 2 hours before cutting into squares.
