Caramel apples have been a popular treat at fall festivals and carnivals since the early 20th century.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Core the apples and cut them into slices.

In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the apples and cook until slightly softened.

In a separate bowl, mix together the brown sugar, flour, rolled oats, cinnamon, and salt.

Spread the caramel sauce over the bottom of a baking dish. Arrange the cooked apples on top.

Sprinkle the dry mixture over the apples.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown.
