Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and garlic powder, and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.

Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Cook for 5 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.

Stir in the cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and black pepper.

Add the cooked macaroni and butternut squash to the cheese sauce. Mix well.

Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle with breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and the sauce is bubbly.

Let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving.
