Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk and oats. Let it sit for 10 minutes.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In another bowl, mix the melted butter and sugar until well combined. Add the eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla extract. Mix well.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chopped walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
