Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Stir in the sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until fully incorporated. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.

If desired, stir in the chopped nuts. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
