Brownies were invented in the United States and are believed to have originated in the late 19th century.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a muffin tin.

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and dark chocolate together.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the sugar mixture and stir well.

Sift in the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.

Fold in the walnuts.

Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
