Blueberries are one of the few fruits native to North America and have been enjoyed by Native Americans for centuries.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  4. Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. In a small bowl, toss the blueberries with cornstarch and lemon juice. Spread the blueberry mixture evenly over the dough.
  6. Crumble the remaining dough over the top of the blueberries.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Allow the bars to cool completely in the baking dish.
  9. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar and cut into squares.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
