  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the blackberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  3. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.
  4. Pour the blackberry mixture into the pie crust.
  5. Dot the top of the filling with small pieces of butter.
  6. Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the filling. Crimp the edges to seal.
  7. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  8. Brush the top crust with beaten egg.
