  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and unsalted butter together in the microwave or over a double boiler.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually pour the melted chocolate mixture into the sugar and egg mixture, stirring until well combined.
  5. Sift in the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Allow the brownies to cool in the baking dish for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, spread the cherry pie filling over the top of the brownies.
  10. Whip the cream until soft peaks form, then spread it over the cherry pie filling.
  11. Sprinkle the chocolate shavings on top.
  12. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
  13. Cut into squares and serve.
