Bananas Foster is a classic New Orleans dessert that was created in the 1950s. It was named after Richard Foster, a friend of Owen Brennan, the owner of Brennan’s Restaurant where the dessert was first served.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Cut the bread into cubes and spread them evenly in the baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas and add milk, heavy cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Pour the banana mixture over the bread cubes, making sure all the bread is soaked.
  5. In a small saucepan, melt the butter and add the dark rum and brown sugar. Cook until the sugar is dissolved.
  6. Pour the rum sauce over the bread mixture in the baking dish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the pudding is set.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!
