Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x9-inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg.

Add the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk to the mashed bananas. Mix well.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
