  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a muffin tin or line with muffin liners.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter. Let it cool slightly.
  5. Add the melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and milk to the bowl with the mashed bananas. Mix well.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chopped walnuts.
  8. Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about three-fourths full.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
  10. Remove from the oven and let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
