Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.

In a large bowl, mix together sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Peel and slice the apples, then toss them in lemon juice.

Add the apples to the sugar mixture and mix well.

Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust.

Dot the top of the apples with butter.

Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the apple filling.

Trim and crimp the edges of the crusts together.
