Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Sprinkle ice water over the mixture and toss with a fork until the dough comes together. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a separate bowl, mix the sliced apples, lemon juice, cornstarch, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
-
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a circle. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet.
-
Arrange the apple mixture in the center of the dough, leaving a border around the edges. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, creating a rustic crust.
-
Brush the crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with turbinado sugar.
-
Bake for 30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
-
Allow the crostatas to cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.
