  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, plain flour, caster sugar, desiccated coconut, and chopped macadamia nuts.
  3. In a small saucepan, melt the butter and golden syrup over low heat.
  4. In a separate small bowl, dissolve the baking soda in boiling water and add it to the melted butter mixture.
  5. Pour the butter mixture into the dry ingredients and mix well until combined.
  6. Take spoonfuls of the mixture and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking tray, leaving space between each biscuit.
  7. Flatten each ball slightly with the back of a spoon.
  8. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the biscuits cool on the tray for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
