Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut the cold butter into small cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the almond extract, egg, and milk. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the dried cranberries and sliced almonds.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until it comes together. Pat the dough into a circle about 1-inch thick.
  7. Use a sharp knife or a biscuit cutter to cut the dough into 8 wedges. Transfer the scones to the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown.
  9. While the scones are cooling, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled scones.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
