In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, and salt until light and fluffy. Stir in 2 cups of flour until well combined.

Press the dough mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until light golden brown.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, lemon zest, lemon juice, and eggs until well blended. Stir in the remaining 1/4 cup of flour.
