In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Stir in the milk and melted butter.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

Finely chop the jalapeno peppers and fold them into the batter along with the cheddar cheese.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
