Vinegar & Butter Pie Crust
Ingredients
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar. Cut the butter into small cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your hands, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
In a small bowl, mix together the vinegar and ice water. Gradually add the vinegar mixture to the flour mixture, stirring with a fork until the dough comes together.
-
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times to bring it together. Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a disk. Wrap each disk in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out one of the dough disks on a lightly floured surface to fit your pie dish. Transfer the rolled-out dough to the pie dish and trim any excess. Fill the pie with your desired filling.
-
Roll out the second dough disk and use it to cover the top of the pie. Trim any excess and crimp the edges to seal. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
-
Bake the pie according to your filling recipe's instructions. Allow the pie to cool before serving.
