Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Peel and cube the sweet potatoes.

In a large pot, boil the sweet potatoes until tender. Drain and mash.

In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix well.

Transfer the sweet potato mixture to a greased casserole dish.

Sprinkle pecans evenly over the top.

Bake for 25 minutes.

Remove from the oven and top with marshmallows.

Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown.

Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
