Strawberry Kolache Cookies
Kolache cookies originated in the Czech Republic and are popular in many Eastern European countries. They are traditionally filled with fruit preserves or poppy seed filling.
This is vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 65 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 8.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, cream cheese, and sugar.

Add vanilla extract and salt, mix well.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until dough forms.

Divide the dough into two equal parts, shape each into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll out each chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness.

Cut out rounds using a cookie cutter and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Spoon strawberry jam onto the center of each round.

Fold opposite sides of each round towards the center, slightly overlapping.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack before serving.
