  5. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens to a custard-like consistency.

  7. Meanwhile, arrange the strawberries in a single layer on the bottom of a greased baking dish.
  8. Pour the custard mixture over the strawberries.
