Spinach is considered a superfood due to its high nutritional value. It is rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as iron and calcium.

This is vegetarian, gluten free and high protein recipe. Dish can be prepared in 45 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 12.

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a pan, sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil until translucent.
  3. Add the spinach and cook until wilted.
  4. In a bowl, mix the cooked spinach mixture, ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg.
  5. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a baking sheet and brush with melted butter.
  6. Repeat this process with 3 more sheets of phyllo dough.
  7. Spread the spinach mixture evenly on top of the phyllo dough.
  8. Layer the remaining 4 sheets of phyllo dough on top, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
