Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together.
  4. Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a disc. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out one disc of dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Repeat with the remaining dough.
  9. Once the cookies are completely cooled, dust with powdered sugar.
  10. Enjoy!
