Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
The chocolate chip cookie was invented by Ruth Graves Wakefield in 1938. She added chopped chocolate to her cookie dough, expecting it to melt and create chocolate cookies. Instead, the chocolate pieces stayed intact, giving birth to the iconic chocolate chip cookie.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until well combined.

Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture. Mix until smooth.

Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
