Sig’s Zebra Butter and Vanilla Cookies
Zebra cookies get their name from the distinctive striped pattern created by rolling together two different colored doughs.

In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the vanilla extract and egg, and mix until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Divide the dough in half. Add cocoa powder to one half and mix until well combined.

Roll out both doughs into rectangles of equal size.

Stack the doughs on top of each other, pressing lightly to adhere.

Roll up the dough tightly from the long side, forming a log.

Wrap the log in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Slice the log into 1 cm thick rounds and place on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
