Pumpkin bread dates back to the colonial era in America and was originally made by hollowing out a pumpkin, filling it with a mixture of milk, honey, and spices, and baking it in hot ashes.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, sugar, and eggs until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the walnuts and raisins.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  9. Transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
