Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cut the rye bread into cubes and spread them on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for about 10 minutes until crispy.

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the parsley, sage, thyme, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine.

In a large bowl, combine the toasted rye bread cubes and the vegetable mixture from the skillet. Mix well.

Gradually pour the chicken or vegetable broth over the bread mixture, stirring until evenly moistened.

Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and cover with foil.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the top is golden brown.

Let the stuffing rest for 10 minutes before serving.
