Ingredients
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until creamy. Add sugar and vanilla extract, and beat until well combined.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the cream cheese mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
-
Divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Shape each part into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
On a lightly floured surface, roll out one disk of dough into a circle. Spread a thin layer of jam or preserves over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon and chopped nuts, if desired.
-
Starting from the widest end, roll up the dough tightly into a log. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
-
Cut each log into 6 equal pieces and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
-
Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the rugelach are golden brown.
-
Allow the rugelach to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
