  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Fold in the dried fruits and nuts.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, the fruitcake is ready to serve. Enjoy!
