Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.

In a medium bowl, combine the pumpkin puree and chopped dates.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

In a large bowl, cream together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

In a small bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.

Pour half of the pumpkin batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spoon the cream cheese mixture on top, then pour the remaining pumpkin batter over the cream cheese. Use a knife to swirl the cream cheese into the pumpkin batter.

Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
