  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts (if desired).
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
