  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until the dough comes together.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. In a large pot, bring water and baking soda to a boil.
  7. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and shape into pretzels.
  8. Carefully place the pretzels into the boiling water for 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Brush the pretzels with melted butter and sprinkle with pretzel salt.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
  11. Serve warm and enjoy!
