Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.

Peel, core, and slice the apples.

In a large bowl, mix together the sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Add the sliced apples and toss until coated.

Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust.

Dot the top of the apples with small pieces of butter.

Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the apple filling. Trim and crimp the edges to seal.

Cut a few slits on the top crust to allow steam to escape.
