The invention of the chocolate chip cookie is credited to Ruth Graves Wakefield who created the recipe in the 1930s. She ran the Toll House Inn and her creation eventually became the famous Toll House chocolate chip cookie.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing well after each addition.
