Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.

Stir in the chopped nuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
