Add the vanilla extract and salt, and mix until well combined.

Gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough forms.

Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to make an indentation in the center of each cookie.

Fill each indentation with a small amount of finely chopped pecans.

In a separate bowl, lightly beat the egg yolks. Brush the edges of each cookie with the beaten egg yolks.

Place a pecan half on top of each cookie.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
