Ingredients
  • 16 ounce Pearl onions
  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • 2 tablespoon All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese, grated
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Bring a pot of water to a boil and blanch the pearl onions for 2 minutes. Drain and let cool.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until thickened, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the grated Gruyere cheese until melted.
  6. Add the blanched pearl onions to the cheese sauce and stir to coat.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
  8. Season with salt and black pepper.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  10. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
