  4. Arrange the orange slices on top of the sugar mixture in the pan.
  5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. In a separate bowl, cream together the remaining butter and granulated sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
