Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork.

In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the melted butter and granulated sugar. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix well.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the mashed bananas and chopped walnuts.

Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
