Chocolate chip cookies were invented by Ruth Graves Wakefield in the 1930s. She ran the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts and added chunks of a Nestlé chocolate bar into her cookie dough, creating the first chocolate chip cookies!

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of dough and flatten it in the palm of your hand.
  8. Place a teaspoon of Nutella in the center, then fold the dough around the Nutella, sealing it completely.
  9. Place the stuffed cookie dough balls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.
  12. Transfer the cookies to a wire rack and let them cool completely.
